Hill CottageCome and enjoy our lovely cottage set in the heart of Co Down. Ideal for a quiet break, enjoy the sunny private garden and peaceful countryside.

Alternatively have a lively family holiday with lots of things to see and do. Go walking in Delamont Country Park on the shores of Strangford Lough or climbing in The Mourne Mountains. Spend a day at Tyrella Beach, go pony trekking in Tollymore Forest Park, try canoeing at Castlewellan Lake. Visit one of our many National Trust properties or the new Titanic Belfast only 15 miles away. Play golf at the world famous County Down Golf Course at Newcastle or sail in Strangford Lough. So much to see and do. A choice of local good restaurants and lively pubs, serving excellent food, are but a short drive away.

Boasting a secluded garden with extended views across the County Down countryside, The Hill Cottage makes a wonderful and peaceful, yet convenient, base for your stay in Northern Ireland. The cottage was converted from a stone farm building in 1990. The back door opens into the old farm yard (now only used for the owner’s Connemara ponies).

The cottage has french doors on the south side opening onto a patio and a private garden with a beautiful view across the countryside to Slieve Croob Mountain in the distance. Walk to the top of the hill and enjoy views as far as the Mourne Mountains, the Ards Peninsular and the Cave Hill. B-B-Q and garden furniture available and a wooded area with cut paths ideal for children and dogs to walk and play in.

The Hill Cottage lies about 2 miles from the villages of Crossgar and Killyleagh in a peaceful rural setting.

We also have stabling for 2 or 3 horses by arrangement and welcome motorcyclists.

Assistance:

The cottage is not visible from the road. It can found at the end of the lane as you look. Nevertheless you can get an impression of what the surroundings are like. Click on the icon in the top right corner to view in full screen. (Escape will allow you to exit full screen mode). Hold the left button on your mouse and drag to view from different angles. To move along the road either click the arrows on the road or choose a spot further along the road and left click your mouse once to advance! (If you don't move your mouse far enough away you will see a magnifying glass in your circle, move a bit further and it disappears. Click and advance! If you find yourself activating the magnifying glass simply right click and zoom out.)

You will have noticed a small window to the bottom right with a little yellow man in the centre. What you are seeing in the main window is the view through his eyes. This window can be enlarged by clicking the arrow in the top left corner. Use the '+' and '-' to zoom in/out. You can also drag the yellow man to e.g. the nearest town and have a quick tour before you arrive! Of course the blue icon represents the location of the cottage.

Have fun and we hope you enjoy your holiday ...
